How a GEONI Scan Works: What Gets Measured, Step by Step

Last updated: 6 August 2026 · GEONI Team

A scan imitates, from the outside, how an AI engine sees you: it asks real questions, reads the real answers, and extracts the sources those answers rest on. No setup, no code to install — entering your domain is enough.

Six steps

  1. A question set is built. Questions of the kind your customers actually ask in your field: “best X”, “how do I choose X”, “who does X”.
  2. Four engines are asked separately. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. Separately, because the four answer the same question differently (comparison).
  3. The answers are read. Did your brand appear, how was it described, which competitors were named alongside it.
  4. Sources are extracted. The sites each answer rests on — these are the places AI trusts in your category.
  5. Google's AI Overview is checked. The AI box above the search results is its own surface, evaluated independently of classic ranking.
  6. Your site is crawled from the outside. Whether AI crawlers can reach your pages, plus structured data, page freshness and indexability.

What appears in the report

Time and requirements

A site scan usually takes a few minutes, and can reach 45 minutes on large multi-page sites. You can close the screen — the report arrives by email when it is ready. You do not need to change anything on your site: no setup, no snippet, no verification file.

How tokens work

A token is a scan credit. The cost of each scan type is shown on screen before you start — no surprises. Everyone who signs up gets their first scan free, so you do not need to pay to see the product.

Once is not the point — repetition is

AI answers shift between runs. A single measurement gives you a snapshot of that moment; what matters is the direction. Brands, sites, people or social accounts added to your watchlist show how the score moves over time — that is the only way to tell whether a content change actually worked.

Frequently asked questions

Is it only websites?

No. Beyond a site, you can scan a brand name, a person's name or a social account; each is measured with its own question set.

Can the report be shared?

Yes, the report is yours — share it with your team or your client.

What if the result is bad?

Findings are written as work to be done: which page type to produce, which access problem to fix, stated one by one.
